MiVolunteer is looking for a committed and organized individual to serve as our Director of Volunteer Services. The Director of Volunteer Services is responsible for leading MiVolunteer’s Volunteer Agency Sector and overseeing the development of the organization’s volunteer operations. This is a senior leadership position for someone who wants to help build an organization from the ground up and take meaningful responsibility for its growth. MiVolunteer’s Volunteer Agency Sector works to connect community organizations, events, and initiatives with volunteers who are willing to contribute their time and skills. The Director will help establish the structures necessary to operate this work across municipalities and regions. You will work closely with the Executive Director & General Manager and other members of the leadership team to develop policies, procedures, recruitment strategies, regional structures, and volunteer-management practices. Responsibilities include: * Lead and oversee MiVolunteer’s Volunteer Agency Sector * Develop and improve volunteer recruitment and engagement systems * Establish standards for volunteer onboarding, communication, coordination, and support * Oversee Regional Managers, Municipal Managers, and Volunteer Coordinators * Help establish MiVolunteer’s volunteer operations in new municipalities and regions * Work with the Partnerships team to understand the needs of organizations working with MiVolunteer * Ensure volunteers are properly informed and prepared for their assignments * Develop strategies to improve volunteer retention and engagement * Support the development of volunteer training and resources * Monitor volunteer participation and operational performance * Identify challenges within the volunteer agency and develop solutions * Provide regular updates and recommendations to executive leadership * Help create a culture of accountability, respect, inclusion, and professionalism Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, communicative, and comfortable taking ownership of projects. Previous experience in volunteer management, nonprofit organizations, community development, leadership, human resources, events, or operations is an asset but is not required. The most important qualities are commitment, initiative, reliability, and a genuine interest in helping build a stronger volunteer network. This is an unpaid volunteer leadership position. It requires an ongoing commitment rather than occasional participation.
