Coordinate and support volunteers for MiVolunteer and partner organizations, including on-site volunteer management at events and community initiatives.
MiVolunteer is looking for dependable, organized, and people-oriented individuals to join our team as Volunteer Coordinators. Volunteer Coordinators are an important part of MiVolunteer’s Volunteer Agency Sector. They are responsible for helping ensure that volunteers are properly recruited, informed, prepared, assigned, and supported throughout their volunteer experience. Volunteer Coordinators may coordinate volunteers for MiVolunteer’s own charitable programs and initiatives, as well as coordinate volunteers on behalf of external organizations that use MiVolunteer’s volunteer services. Depending on the assignment, Coordinators may work directly with an organization’s staff or event team to understand their volunteer requirements and ensure that those requirements are effectively communicated and managed through MiVolunteer. Responsibilities * Coordinate volunteers for MiVolunteer programs, initiatives, and activities * Coordinate volunteers on behalf of organizations using MiVolunteer’s volunteer services * Communicate with partner organizations regarding volunteer requirements * Review volunteer positions, responsibilities, schedules, and assignment requirements * Assist with recruiting volunteers for assigned opportunities * Communicate with volunteers before their assignments * Confirm volunteer availability and attendance * Provide volunteers with schedules, instructions, locations, and other relevant information * Organize volunteer assignments and schedules * Coordinate volunteer check-in and attendance when required * Serve as a point of contact for volunteers during assignments * Support volunteers and answer questions throughout their assignments * Communicate changes or important information to volunteers and organizational contacts * Coordinate volunteers on-site when required * Help address attendance, scheduling, assignment, or other operational issues * Ensure volunteers understand their responsibilities and expectations * Maintain accurate volunteer attendance and assignment records * Complete post-opportunity reports and documentation * Collect feedback from volunteers and partner organizations when appropriate * Report significant issues or concerns to MiVolunteer management * Represent MiVolunteer professionally when working with partner organizations and community members Working With Partner Organizations When an organization uses MiVolunteer’s volunteer coordination services, Coordinators may be responsible for helping manage the organization’s volunteer operation according to the scope of services agreed upon with MiVolunteer. This may include communicating with the organization before an assignment, coordinating volunteer schedules, managing volunteers during an activity, assisting with on-site coordination, and providing follow-up information after the assignment. Coordinators are expected to maintain professionalism when representing both MiVolunteer and the volunteer service being provided to the organization. Ideal Candidate We are looking for people who are: * Reliable and committed * Organized and detail-oriented * Comfortable communicating with different people * Able to work independently * Comfortable taking responsibility * Calm when dealing with unexpected changes * Respectful and professional * Willing to work as part of a team * Comfortable working in community and event environments Previous experience in volunteering, events, customer service, leadership, community work, or volunteer coordination is an asset but is not required. Most importantly, we are looking for people who will show up, communicate, take responsibility, and follow through. Commitment This is an ongoing volunteer team position. Coordinators may receive assignments based on their availability and the needs of MiVolunteer and its partner organizations. Some assignments may require specific availability, including evenings or weekends.
